When it comes to the Alignment of teams specific to varying generational expectations in the workplace, some organizations are proving better than others at addressing the conversation. Millennials now comprise more than a third of our employee base. If you are an established firm, what are you doing to incorporate them into your existing culture? Or perhaps you are a Millennial owner? Do Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, GenExers and Millennials happily co-exist in your workplace?
I recently ran across the following graphic (credit to the Denver Bar Association), and I wanted to share it with my network. While I would caution everyone not to get caught up in stereotypes, I have seen (firsthand) some of these generalizations play out in real time at organizations of varying function and size. When there is some truth behind the generalizations, management and employees both have to be willing to engage in a frank conversation in order to better understand what is inspiring and motivating peers at every level, to maintain Alignment of stakeholders, and incorporate the shared mission, vision and values within the organization’s positive culture.
